Christmas Festivities

We had a busy Christmas season filled with family, fun and of course a visit from Santa. Henry and Owen's great grandma Handy flew in from Reno to visit with all of us and meet Owen. We were very excited to have her here to join in on our Christmas traditions and to celebrate her birthday.

Family Christmas Party
The family gathered at Grandma Debbie's house for a Christmas celebration. It was a lot of fun seeing all my aunts, uncles and cousins. My cousin Sierra was even brave enough to play some Christmas music on her saxophone. Henry loved watching the performance and even did a little festive dancing.

Christmas Eve at Grandma & Grandpa's House
On Christmas Eve, we headed over to Grandma and Grandpa's house to have dinner, open a few gifts and even our stockings. Owen spent some more time with Great Grandma as Henry checked out the stockings and the tree. He even posed for some pictures with Owen (who was perfecting his brand new skill of sitting up!), before opening up some presents and helping Owen with his. Unfortunately that's also the night that the Hand, Foot & Mouth Disease virus decided to rear its ugly head and we went home early for some Tylenol and rest. He picked out some cookies & milk for Santa and even a carrot for his reindeer when we got home and headed for bed.

Christmas
On Christmas morning, we awoke to find that Santa had come! Owen is our early riser, so he played patiently while we waited for Henry to wake up. Once Henry came down, he quickly checked out all the presents under the tree.

He gave Owen the gift he wrapped for him and even helped Owen open it.

Owen loved it so much, he decided to see how it tasted. I love the look on Henry's face in this picture:

Henry opened up his stocking and his gift from Santa. Tools!! He loved the toy drill so much (it spins and makes a drilling sound), that not only did he not care to open any other presents, but he just wanted to drill into them. He finally decided to try out his pliers as a way to open presents. (Which is the slowest way ever to open a gift, in case you were curious).

Presents are much quicker to open without his tools

Grandma came over to visit with us on Christmas and Henry made sure to show her all his tools. Christmas or not, there is building to be done! With his tool belt on and his little assistant by his side (what, are saws not appropriate for babies?) he got to work on his projects.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that Santa did follow through on bringing Henry balloons for Christmas, as Henry requested when he met Santa. While slightly deflated, they are still floating in the house.

Uncle Max arrived the day after Christmas to celebrate the Holidays with us and Henry was happy to show off his tools.

We made sure to take time to celebrate Great Grandma Handy's 93rd birthday.

Despite fevers on and off and the eventual arrival of the rash on the hands, feet and inside their mouths, we were able to have a nice relaxing Christmas. The boys were much easier going about being sick than I would be. As soon as their fevers subsided, they were right back to playing. A belated Merry Christmas to everyone!
