Baby Boy 2 at 20 Weeks

At my 20 week prenatal appointment we got to see the baby again. I was so happy with how the ultrasound turned out. The tech was having so much fun with the ultrasound that she even surprised us with some 3D pictures. I may be a bit biased, but I think we have another pretty cute little boy! As far as the appointment, everything looked really good. The baby is about 1 pound and is even measuring 1 week ahead. That may mean nothing at all, but to me, I'm hoping that means he is a week early. :) Dangerous thoughts since he'll probably come late out of spite, but I can't help myself.

And here are the pics.

A nice profile with his hand in front of his face . . .

Another profile . . .

And now the 3D ones. Here he is profile with his hand in front of his face . . .

A little more of the face snuggled up against the hand . . .

And another profile. . .

Besides trying to pick out names, we're trying to guess whether he'll have blond hair and blue eyes like Henry or dark hair and eyes like Daddy. Only time will tell . . .

Snow Day!

Thursday morning we awoke to find quite a bit more snow had fallen - about 3 inches. Not a blizzard by any means, but plenty to play in and just enough to cancel schools. I have to stay home for a snow day? OK! We opened up our bedroom blinds and showed Henry all the snow outside. A few houses down, he spotted two neighbor boys playing in their yard. He got really excited and yelled out, "MONKEYS!!" I guess from his view 2 stories up and quite a distance away they did kind of look like monkeys playing. Oh to be a toddler. :)

Before heading out to play, Daddy was nice enough to make us a nice breakfast. Henry loved his "baCON!" Unfortunately, he hasn't been big into eating lately so we have resorted to the classic airplane (fork) flying to his mouth method. While it worked the first few times (and during this breakfast - he even got so excited he tried it himself), he has since caught on to us and smiles at the "airplane" while politely telling us "no." I guess if he's hungry he'll eat! Daddy dropping of the cargo of eggs into Henry's mouth . . . And Henry piloting the "plane" himself - sounds and all . . . Finally it was time to head out. I knew those snow pants and boots I bought for Henry would come in handy! And yes, it was totally worth it for the day. :) Henry loved making fresh tracks in the snow and checking out the bright white yard. Tilly enjoyed the snow by rolling and catching snowballs. And I now realize the picture below looks like we're hitting Tilly on the side of the head with a big snowball. However, she actually had just jumped up to catch it and it exploded around her. Don't worry, she was having fun. :) Henry even threw some snowballs for Tilly. (And yes, we tried every method we could think of to get Henry to wear gloves, but it was a no go. Apparently he wanted to feel the snow with his bare hands. He did, however, enjoy letting Mommy and Daddy warm up his hands with snuggles and blowing warm air on them. No fingers were lost in this snow adventure.) A self portrait - Managed to get everybody in the frame with the exception of Tilly. Judging by the look on Henry's face, this snow play is serious stuff! And it was off for a walk and more snowballs. . . After exploring all that we could, it was time to head inside and warm up. Doesn't he look cute in his snow pants?? :) Unfortunately Daddy had to do some work from home. Luckily for Daddy, Henry was more than happy to help Daddy catch up some work after playing with us in the snow. As excited as I was for spring (and still am), the snow day was a welcome and fun surprise.

February Snow

Despite what the weather reports were saying, we were still surprised when we arrived home Wednesday night and saw a dusting of snow in our yard. Not sure if this was all the snow we were getting this year, we quickly dressed for the cold and headed out. Henry stomped around the deck in his snow boots making little shoe prints everywhere while Tilly raced around and did diving rolls in what little snow there was. I'm not sure who had more fun! After they were done, there wasn't much snow left.

Duck, Duck, Goose and Seagull?

What a better way to spend a weekend morning than feeding the ducks by the river? Unfortunately for the ducks, the geese and especially the seagulls were quite aggressive, but the ducks did manage to get a little. Even Henry took a few bites (must have been good bread). :) After we ran out of bread, Henry wanted to show Daddy the playground. He did some more sliding (so much easier on Mommy to have Daddy there to help - you never know which direction Henry is headed), swinging, exploring and of course a little digging in the sand. What a perfect Sunday!

A Touch of Spring

After the snow earlier this week, I was pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful sunny day when I looked out the window this morning. Plans for running errands were quickly put aside for a fun morning at the park. It seemed pretty clear that Henry preferred a day at the park to errands anytime! Despite my feelings that Henry is still my little baby, he decided he was too big to need much help. When I tried to hold his hand and help him up the stairs he ripped his hand out of mine and whined "Noooo!". Yeesh, sorry! And off he went climbing up the play structure and finding his way to the slide (as I ran frantically around the outside making sure he didn't fall off!). Unfortunately Henry's independence took a bit of a hit when he shot down the slide too quickly for Mommy to catch him at the bottom. He was not happy with the result of the face plant into the dirt. But, a baby wipe and some digging in the sand box were enough to cure his pain and it was back to the slides! Does this mean it's time for another trip to the beach? I'm so proud of my little (OK OK, not little), big boy. Despite the face plant, he was still quite brave exploring all of the slides and the play equipment. I guess he's just fine with the growing up part, it's me that has to work on accepting it! :) And more importantly, Henry was right: the park was much more fun than errands!
