The day after Thanksgiving, we headed out to a local tree lot to pick up our Christmas tree. I absolutely love Christmas festivities and feel that Thanksgiving weekend marks the beginning of the Christmas season. Lights go on, tree goes up and it's officially Christmas in the Reagan household. With 2 boys, it was a bit slower to decorate this year, but at least the tree got up early.
And now for the pictures of our tree hunt. Henry cleaned up all the branches he found and completely ignored the actual Christmas trees. Nate was thrilled that Henry walked so slowly because rather than causing a tantrum or carrying Henry around, we decided to just pick one of the first trees we saw. My method of picking trees is more along the lines of the best one just might be the next one we see so I wander up and down the rows of trees until Nate convinces me to finally just stop and pick one.

Owen slept in the front pack until the chainsaw came out. Henry was fascinated watching them cut down our tree and Owen just tried to figure out what woke him up. We borrowed a wagon to haul the tree home and we were on our way.

Of course putting up the tree is never a neat process so vacuuming was in order. And Henry loves to vacuum. So much so, that he decided the most efficient process would be to just vacuum the tree!

And then it was time to decorate!

Another fun tradition we've had is doing the Doggie Walk at the Portland Raceway. One night during the Holiday season, they open the track up for walkers (and their dogs) to check out the Winter Wonderland lights. It was quite cold, and Henry insisted on walking (very very slowly, because of course he had to check out every light lining the track), but it was a lot of fun. And the pictures we took before Henry abandoned the stroller . . .

And of course zoolights! This year we met the Higbee family there and wandered around checking out the lights. Henry and Claire ran around while Owen and Porter took turns sleeping throughout the evening. We made sure to ride the train around the zoo and then grab a little hot cocoa to warm up.

The Santa Brunch in West Linn was new to us this year but also a lot of fun. We didn't get to spend much time there, but made the most of our time. Henry made a gingerbread house (translation: he alternated between eating a piece of candy and placing a piece on the house), we had a nice brunch and Henry even got to check out a fire truck! We thought he'd be really excited to see one up close, but he kind of panicked when we sat him in there and asked to go back inside and make another gingerbread house. Not quite the reaction we were going for!

Oh, and Owen just did a lot of people watching and taking notes for what he'd like to try out next year.
