Haircuts and More

We've been so busy lately that Daddy and Henry were way overdue for haircuts (and Mommy, too, but so far that hasn't changed). So Daddy ran out and got his hair cut while Henry slept and then it was Henry's turn. We stripped Henry down to his diaper, put in his Yo Gabba Gabba DVD (I don't get what's fascinating with that program, but Henry sure seems to love it), and proceeded with his haircut. He was extremely patient for most of it, which Mommy and Daddy were very proud of . . .



However, his patience wore thin as we're not the quickest toddler stylists just yet . . .



Oh, and for the record, that is not a knife in his hand; it's just a little brush to wipe the hair away. :)

However, the shower with Daddy seemed to make up for it. He especially liked the drying off part as he raced around the house in his superman cape of a towel. . .







In honor of his superhero-like moves, we put on his Batman shirt and headed down to play.

He practiced walking down the stairs (YAY!! We've been trying to work on that as I'm having a harder and harder time carrying him down the stairs with my growing belly) . . .



He practiced playing basketball . . .





And we even brought out the bat so he could practice swinging at the baseball. And so far, he has yet to get the bat taken away! This is quite an improvement from the first time we let him try out the bat. He got it taken away quickly once he started testing it out on a nearby window and had his sights set on Tilly. But this time, he was focused on using it the right way! . . .





OK, not quite correctly, but despite Daddy showing him which side to hold, he found the handle side to be much more accurate at hitting. :)

Sunday at the Zoo

Henry and I took Daddy to the zoo on Sunday morning to give him a break from taxes. Each time we go to the zoo, it's fun to see what interests Henry. In the beginning it was really just the other people and especially the kids running around. Eventually it progressed to him being fascinated with the fish and turtles swimming around. It seems like just this last time he really started to take notice of the animals further away. He still prefers the turtles and people watching, but he's definitely getting more and more out of our zoo trips.

At the polar bear exhibit they had little windows just Henry's size along a wall. He loved running from window to window shouting, "I see it!" I'm not sure the polar bear was even out where he could see it, but it didn't matter to him as long as he could see through the wall!







We were recently reading a book at home with a zebra and I was teaching him how to say the word. So, when we saw the zebra at the zoo he was really excited to practice his new word while pointing out the zebra. Of course he soon noticed the picture of the zebra outside of the exhibit with information and got more excited about that. I mean why look at the picture way out there when there's one right here?



But his favorite exhibit at the zoo? The coin whirly. OK, that's probably not the official term, but it seems to work. He loved putting his penny in there and watching it spin around and around until it dropped into the center. A few pennies later, we had to drag him away to continue on with our zoo adventure.

Dance Party

Saturday was a Mommy & Henry day, so we made the most of it!

We turned up the music on the TV and danced the morning away. I tried to put on some Oldies, but Henry brought me the remote and said, "Uh Oh". I guess that means I chose the wrong music? So, I put on the Toddler Tunes and he was happy. He took turns between identifying the pictures on the screen ("Duck!" "Keys!") and dancing with Mommy.





But as is the case with toddlers, no activity lasts too long, so soon it was off to play some basketball. Which at this point is more chasing the ball around than shooting at the hoop, but might be even cuter!



Eventually he got the bright idea that if he put both of the balls in a cup and dumped them into the basket, it would save him some time. Pretty creative!

Just Like Daddy

In honor of Nate's birthday, Henry decided to walk a day in Daddy's shoes. And loved it! . . .









He watched some March Madness and cheered on the teams. If Henry saw a player make a shot, he'd yell out, "I made it!!" And if the player missed, "Ahh, almost!" He didn't seem to prefer one team over the other, but definitely enjoyed watching it. Perhaps basketball is his sport of choice?





During the birthday celebration, Henry watched the festivities to make sure things were done correctly. He helped Daddy blow out the candles on the birthday cake and was happy to be part of ripping open the cards and gifts.











But his favorite part of the evening? Playing with Daddy's new books! (Although the ice cream cake might have been a tie or at the very least a close second). He loved looking for Waldo in Daddy's Where's Waldo book (basically anything in the picture with red and white stripes, but we were still impressed). And his reaction to Daddy' new gardening book? "Wow!! Wow!!" as he searched through the pages pointing out the different vegetables, plants, and of course worms.
