Happy Halloween!

Wow! It has been a busy few months (hence the lack of blog updates)! But things are good here. I've had quite a few photography sessions which I am so thankful for and spend most of my evenings working on my new photography business or editing sessions. But I felt like taking a break tonight to post some Halloween pictures!

We had our annual Halloween party and it was a miracle that we were able to get all the kids to sit for a few pictures!

We couldn't let our photoshoot area go to waste, so we did a little costume photoshoot the next day. I do so love my little fox & zebra!

Henry made full use out of the extra masks left over from the Halloween party. He decorated the rest, and explained how each one had a different super power when you wore it. My favorite was the guy that could dig really really fast! So we each tried out our super power masks. . .

Owen's super power? - No hands milk drinking!

Henry's new school (which he is still loving - even requesting that he be picked up last so he "doesn't miss any fun") held a costume parade this week. Oh man, that was a lot of cuteness parading through the school!

And of course tonight we went out trick or treating. Mother Nature was kind to us by only raining in the morning and leaving us a beautiful evening to make our way through the neighborhood! The boys loved ringing the doorbell, and I'm pretty sure Owen thinks this is the coolest holiday ever because he got to walk door to door collecting things in a bucket. I don't think he even realized they were treats until we got home!

But he loved the treats too! Although we had to cut off the boys for the night so we could head up to bed. Thankfully they were already wearing their matching Halloween PJs under their costumes!

Easter Wrap Up

It took me 4 years, but I finally got the guts (or perhaps energy) to dye Easter eggs with the boys. I've purchased the supplies in past years, but somehow never got around to actually doing it. Since Nate was working weekends for tax season, I decided to try it out on my own with 2 boys (under the age of 4 - really, anything could have happened). But it was a wonderful experience. They followed directions and really enjoyed it. So much so, that when I took Owen's eggs to put on the drying rack, he would burst into tears. The tears would quickly disappear with the next egg and thankfully washing hands was an acceptable distraction when we finally ran out of eggs. Unfortunately he got more joy out of making patterns with the dye than dying the actual eggs, but he was kind enough to keep it mostly on the wax paper (aka: his canvas) for easy clean up.

Before we headed to the tulip fest on Easter, we received a visit from the Easter bunny. The boys had fun searching for their Easter baskets and the colorful eggs hidden throughout the house. Owen didn't quite get what was happening but would get so excited when he'd find an egg (if we could get him to find it before Henry would dash in a grab it) and show it to us. Imagine his surprise when he realized it opened and there were treats of puffs and melts inside! Henry, on the other hand, was all business. He knew there were lots of eggs to find and he was going to find every last one, just don't get in his way! We tried to convince him to find the harder ones and leave some for Owen to find and he responded, "I want to get the eggs. But I'll share them with Owen later." While I'm flattered that he would care to share with his brother later, he didn't have much generosity in the moment. Ah, well, we have a few more years to work on that and thankfully Owen didn't seem to mind as he was busy breaking into the few eggs he had found!

After the tulip fest (and a short nap), we headed to a friend's house for a BBQ. Between our 3 families, we had 6 boys under the age of 5. Owen made a beeline for the cars, choosing to play with those inside while the other kids played outside. That kid sure loves cars!

However, with the promise of swings & a slide, we were able to coax him outside for awhile. But from time to time we would lose him for a minute and find him quietly inside lining up the cars before heading back outside to play some more. Too many fun things to choose from! And Henry spent all his time playing outside with his friends.

How cute is this little guy? Rogan, Owen thanks you for letting him play with your cars and swing set and being such an awesome friend to play with!

I consider it a miracle that we were able to get all the boys sitting for a group picture!

And what BBQ with 6 boys is complete without a water gun?

Such a perfect Easter with friends. And the weather wasn't too shabby either!

Heaphy Family

The Heaphy family came out to Portland recently and we met up for a fabulous Easter at the tulip festival. And like many Heaphy/Reagan get-togethers, photoshoots were involved and Heidi and I exchanged family portraits for each other. With that said, here are the pictures of the Heaphy family . . .

And since we all know I'm a little behind on the blog (ok, way behind), here are the amazing family pictures that Heidi took for us to tide you over until I get around to updating the blog with all the Easter pictures. See the pictures on her photography blog HERE.

Thank you Heaphy family and especially Heidi for capturing such wonderful photos of us!
