A Hint of Summer

Even though it's not even the end of May yet, I have been antsy for some summer weather. So when this week brought a bit of sun, we made sure to take advantage of it. And we made it just in time, the sun has quickly been replaced by pouring rain tonight.

On our Mommy & Henry day, we headed out to do some errands and enjoy every drop of sun. After his nap, we hung out on the deck and Henry helped water the flowers . . .

We even ventured out into the jungle of our back yard to make the most of the day. And while usually this would make me find a way to mow the lawn (or at least think about it) for ease of walking around the yard, I was happy to play the pregnancy card on this one and just ignore it. Tilly did her best to mow it with her teeth one blade at a time, while Henry seemed quite entertained by the knee deep grass.

And to top of the wonderful day, we met Daddy at swimming lessons! They did all sorts of activities that we hadn't seen before and Henry had a great time. And more importantly, I'm proud that this was the lesson I brought the camera too! :)

He loved the ring pull game. He didn't even care when it dipped his head unexpectedly under the water.

Oh, and I have no idea who the boy on the step is in the background, but I love how it looks like he fell asleep waiting for his turn!

And he even enjoyed the Magic Carpet Ride with his teacher in honor of Disney week at the pool.

This morning, Henry and I headed to the park to meet up with Ty and Harper. We took a quick walk (and by quick, I mean slow and short since I feel a bit waddly these days) and then we hit up the playground.

Harper and Henry made the most of their time exploring all the equipment. They did lots of climbing, running and sliding.

So much fun and we already have a list of outdoor activities to do once the sun shows up again! Although, the bright side of the rainy weather is it gives me the perfect excuse to stay in tomorrow and work on some of my nesting projects/cleaning.

Doggie Dash

Saturday morning we headed downtown to participate in the Oregon Humane Society's Doggie Dash. And thankfully for Tilly, "we" actually included her this time! They added a 2.5 mile bridge to bridge loop this year and we were excited to try it out.

Unfortunately it was a little slow to start, but Henry and Tilly were pretty patient.

Waiting for the walk to begin . . .

_051411_12628

And we were off! Us and a few thousand other participants . . .

_051411_12631

Unfortunately, I'm not sure they thought out how to get everybody over the bridges on the narrow sidewalk, so we had to do more waiting . . .

_051411_12642

But after a few small loops to keep everybody occupied, the crowd was moving and we were off again! And once people were more spread out, the walk went much smoother.

And it was a success! After the walk we hung out on the waterfront and picked up some lunch from the Saturday Market. By the time we were finished, we were all ready to head home for naps.

Happy Birthday Henry!!

Henry is 2 today! I can't believe how quickly time has flown by. He is just amazing us every day with all the new things he's learning. His vocabulary seems to be growing exponentially and I've noticed lately that I can actually have little conversations with him. When did that happen?

Luckily his birthday happened to fall on one of our Mommy & Henry days so I could spend the day with him. While I really wanted to take him outside somewhere, the weather has not been cooperating. Although I suppose we still have some time after his nap. But just in case the rain didn't let up, we headed out to the pet store this morning to check out all the animals.

He had so much fun looking at all the fish, cats, dogs and birds. And I was the crazy mommy chasing him around with the camera. I'm sure we were quite entertaining to the other customers and employees.

"Fish! Fish!"

"Meow!" & "Birdies"!! (Not in the same cage, of course). He seemed a little nervous to approach the birds at first since they were so active. But eventually he warmed up to them and made sure to point out where their bird food was and what they were doing. "Flying!" "Splashing!"

Happy Birthday Henry!! We love you so much and are enjoying every minute of watching you grow and learn!

Henry & Harper's Birthday Bash

This weekend Henry and Harper celebrated their 2nd birthdays together with a swimming party. There was swimming, pizza and cake and even a bounce house!

And the rest were saved for home. I'm not sure he knew where to start, but he figured it out quickly.

Henry Tidbits and Belly Pictures

Henry is quite the busy guy these days. It's always fun to see the wheels turning in his head as he comes up with new ideas.

Pushing his Thomas chair into the corner to create a quiet little reading corner. Where else can a toddler search for Waldo in peace?

_042411_12226 copy

_042411_12230

And he's very particular about his eating these days. His current spot of choice is a booster seat in Daddy's chair (well, what was Daddy's chair). Bibs are unnecessary at this point, but if he does agree to wear one, he has to pick the color. And most of all, don't try to help him too much or the meal is over! While it's frustrating not being able to help him, it also makes me proud to watch him learn to do things himself.

_042911_12231 copy

He also loves to do art of any kind. We picked up this easel from Ikea last weekend and before it was even fully set up he was yelling, "Color! Color!" Guess he figured out what it was for!

_050211_12363 copy

He's also been happy to help out with my nesting/spring cleaning projects. He was a big fan of helping me pick out flowers and fill the planters with soil, but he was a bit upset that I decided to put the new flowers in his new found digging spot. "Out! Out!" He kept saying about the flowers as he stood by the planter with his shovel. Unfortunately he lost that battle, but luckily he seems to have gotten over it.

_050111_12359

I've even started sorting through all of Henry's old clothes. The process pretty much consisted of unpacking a box, holding up the tiny outfits and denying that Henry could have ever been that small and then putting them into different piles. I'm not sure I've made any progress, but I suppose it's a start? Definitely wishing I'd sorted these better as Henry outgrew them but then that would take the fun out of nesting.

And my 30 week belly pictures to prove how necessary some serious organizing is . . .
