Snow Day at Timberline

When the Sohlman Family invited us to drive up to the mountains yesterday to play in the snow, we couldn't refuse! Who doesn't love a snow day? Unfortunately there weren't many choices as the snowfall has been pretty light, but we drove up to Timberline Lodge and found some! The snow was pretty icy, but that made it perfect for sliding down! Henry, Harper, Owen & John all had a ton of fun and us parents did too!

Exploring the old lodge - I'd never been here before, so it was so fun to look around!

Harper, the snow diva - loved that she posed for me for my diva shot!

And of course there was lots of playing in the snow! It was such a beautiful day and the evening light just screamed for me to take lots of pictures!

Loved that the little brothers ended up in matching purple snowsuits! Owen's was borrowed and John's was a hand-me-down from big sis. They didn't seem to mind!

Such a wonderful snow day on the mountain!!

And yes, I realize my posts have been pretty far and few between these days, but I am trying to blog when I get the chance. And I loved these pictures so much that I just had to sort through and edit them right away. Trust me, there have been plenty of pictures taken of the Reagan adventures, just very little blogging! Until next time . . .

Freezing Fog

A few weeks ago we were experiencing very un-Portland-like winter weather. It was super sunny and cold. Everything looked like a winter wonderland, except it wasn't snow. I actually had to look up what was going on because I was so curious and apparently it's called freezing fog. Who knew?

Unfortunately the first day we experienced this, is when we had an all day tax class and of course I didn't bring my camera. During our lunch break, I managed to snap a quick pic with my phone . . .

While it wasn't nearly as white the next time, I made sure to run out with my camera to take some pictures. Some people weren't excited about my solo trip outside (even if Daddy was inside ready to play).

Please ignore the doggy nose prints & kid handprints on the door - it doesn't matter how often we wash it, there's always more

OK, so this really isn't any sort of update on our family or what we've been up to, but I had fun photographing the frost and wanted to share. We were back to rain shortly after these pictures!

Christmas Etc.

To round out the Christmas posts, here are the pictures that didn't fit into the other posts. . .

Christmas Photoshoot
As we began to take out our Christmas decorations in November (don't judge. In my opinion, anytime after Thanksgiving is fair game to start the Christmas festivities - even if you're still cleaning up from dinner), I decided to do an impromptu photoshoot with the boys. All those decorations were just screaming to be used as props, so I set up a quick studio. Although the boys were more interested in playing than posing, I did manage to capture a few pictures while ornaments went whizzing by my head, the boys were a constant blur of movement and my "studio" was quickly trashed by two very innocent looking boys. . .

My budding photographer (or perhaps photo shoot director) Henry likes to tell me when to take his picture and how it should be arranged. I was trying to capture some pics of his feet with the Christmas lights and he decided the lights needed to be between his toes and instructed me when he was ready for me to take his picture. Once he approved it, we were allowed to move on with our day.

The Great Christmas Tree Hunt
(AKA, another Christmas photoshoot). After Thanksgiving was long gone (I'm talking at least 24 hours), we continued our Christmas tradition of walking to a nearby Christmas tree farm to pick out the perfect tree.

Etc.
While this wasn't really a Christmas thing, I needed to post these adorable pictures of a playdate with Harper & John in December. . .

A phone pic, but one of my favorites!

Snow
About a week before Christmas, we were surprised with a little snow. It was pretty slushy and melted after a few hours, but the boys still loved playing in it.

New Year's Eve Hoopla
Despite what people might think, even with 2 young kids, you can really whoop it up on New Year's Eve. There was live music, entertainment and dancing. All before 8pm! And Nate and I even managed to stay up until midnight to watch the ball drop in Times Square. We counted down, toasted our sparkling cider (wild, I know) and went straight to bed. Seriously, though, we did have a laid back and fun New Year's Eve. We watched Madagascar 3 (getting full use out of the wig included with the movie), made popcorn and just hung out with the boys. I love this age when they're up for anything. I'd choose this over a New Year's Eve out on the town hands down!
